MATCH REPORT:
After a couple of posters we had a narrow 2 point lead at quarter time and  then kicked the first goal of the second quarter to get a good start. We went back into our shells for a ten min burst allowing DOSA to reply quickly with 3 goals. A shootout occurred during the third quarter with DOSA kicking 7 goals to our 4 and they led by 26 points at three quarter time. An even last quarter saw us defeated by 27 points. Losing Cheese and Marto early did not help our case. Blake repelled many moves from our halfback line and great to have Ben back as a target on the forward line. Blaze played well and Glov and Cookey were busy through the middle of the ground and Adam Alexander contributed well in his senior debut.
After a solid week on the track lets have a good win against Hutchins keeping ourselves in the finals race.

MATCH REPORT:
We knew DOSA had come to play when they led by 3 goals at quarter time. We fought our way back and led by 2 points at three quarter time. DOSA then came home over the top of us and won by 13 points. We cannot win games by kicking 8 goals so must get back to having the games on our terms. This will come through improved communication all over the ground. Tim Reynolds was a continual target up forward and Oli gave his all on the ball. Two Names contributed well down back and Reuben continued to give us drive through the middle. Hutchins will be primed after a big win against Richmond so we must bring our ultimate team game and get back on the winning list.

 R9 Women :      13.05 (087) d Brighton 2.2 (014)

Round 9 saw the Girl Bows head up to Pontville to take on Brighton. Brighton are always a tough, physical opponent with a never say die attitude. The girls were led beautifully by their skipper for the day Tarnith Kelly who played a true Skippers game with clear directive voice and hard attack on the footy all day.
We started well, keeping Brighton off the scoreboard for the first quarter and went into the break in front by 13 points. Madi Mulder took on the challenge of Ruck demonstrating her versatility and game smarts playing out of position and contesting at every stoppage. Bonnie Grynglas and Jas Allnutt showed that they're two of the best wingers in the competition, switching from intelligent and aggressive defenders to strong and direct attackers of the ball.
The second quarter saw the dew dry up and both sides getting more scoring opportunities with Brighton getting some reward for effort kicking 1.2 for the quarter. The Girls added another 2.1 going into half time with an 18 point lead. Olly Dove had a tremendous quarter, shutting down one of Brighton’s most dangerous players in the middle.
The third quarter was our starring quarter, we came out after half time ready to step it up a notch and create some run and carry across the ground and had a 5 goal quarter and kept Brighton scoreless for 18 mins. Mimi Rafaei had a belter, going in hard at every contest putting her body on the line for her team mates at every opportunity.
We finished up the last quarter with another 4 goal effort using our fitness and trust in each other to spread the goals, having 7 goal scorers for the game. Remie Bampton had a stellar game kicking 6 goals!
This win puts us back on top of the Div 2 ladder by percentage over Lindisfarne which is a credit to the squad of women who go out and play with courage and integrity each and every week.
Congratulations to first gamer Eleanor Dykstra who managed to snag one in her first game!
Next week is a special week for the Girl Bows, inaugural player and all round amazing human, Sarah Ikin plays her 50th game as a Bow! This is a huge achievement in women’s footy and shows just how strong Sarah is only missing 3 games in the past 4 years! Get along on Saturday to Uni and cheer her on in her milestone game for the club! She will put on a show!
