MATCH REPORT:

With 3 goals in the last ten minutes of the second quarter we had the game back to a close contest at half time. With cleaner skills OHA pulled away to have a 20 point lead at 3/4 time. Again making the most of their opportunities and capitalising on our skill errors OHA ran away with the game in the last quarter. Blaze had his best game of the year limiting Speedy to two goals and Punchy returning to his old spot on the backline defended strongly. Blake was also prominent again across halfback. Cookey,  Marto and Jed were strong around the ball. Due to our liking for the TCA we look forward to a return to our strong brand of football against DOSA on the weekend.

MATCH REPORT:

We came out firing with a seven goal first quarter but OHA stayed in touch kicking 4 goals. OHA matched us in the second but we started to pull away in the third. The last quarter was all Uni kicking 8 goals to two to finish the game strongly. Ned, Lachie and Gav were our main targets up forward but 7 others chipped in with a goal each. Adam, Connor and Donny were good in the midfield with Tim Reynolds and Baxter standouts down back.
After beating Hutchins last week DOSA will provide a strong contest on Saturday so we must come to play.

Round 8 saw the Girl Bows take on 3rd place The Port at Uni oval, starting off a triple header day for the University Rainbows. We knew coming into the game that both sides match up well on paper and we were in for a cracking game.
It was a defensive game, with both sides matching up against each other’s key forwards brilliantly limiting their abilities to hit the scoreboard with any majors. However, as the Girl Bows have shown throughout the 2021 season, all 20 who take the field for the day are contributors and we saw our two goals come from Bec Moore and Leah Bartlett. Faith Thompson also played her crumbing role well, getting into the right position all game.
Our back line had a stunning game lead superbly by the veterans Sarah Ikin and Tarnith Kelly, who stepped up and took charge, demonstrating their football smarts and quick decision making.
Our mids were again aggressive and played with huge intensity for the four quarters. Sam Rose lead from the front again with one of her best games for the season accompanied by Olly Dove and Bonnie Grynglas who were physically imposing on the game.
Next week we head to Pontville to take on Brighton on Saturday. These contests are always tough work and this week will be no different, but we are looking at claiming back first on the ladder this week and a good win will do that for us.
