MATCH REPORT:

Hutchins jumped us in the first 5 minutes but once we lifted our pressure we started to gain some ball in the forward line. Ash Woodhead was giving us a target to kick to and took some good strong marks. During the second quarter, when we applied pressure on Hutchins, we started to get on top again and when we moved the ball quickly we scored more freely. Unfortunately we didn't kick straight in the third whilst Hutchins did and we were 13 points behind at three quarter time. Hutchins outscored us 4 goals to 2 in the last quarter to win by 27 points. Troy Cunliffe worked his backside off all day, and Sam Chivers showed great leadership down back and when he went forward. We can take plenty from this game and look forward to a good contest against OHA.

MATCH REPORT:

Our lads took the first quarter to come to terms with the pace of the game and trailed by 3 goals at quarter time. We managed to up our pressure football and were back to within 11 points at half time. The premiership quarter proved to be our best and despite losing Andrew James  outscored Hutchins 4 goals to one. Kester again gave us a spark with a couple of goals. After a nasty collision between two Hutchins players the game was called off with a few minutes to go. We would like to wish a speedy recovery to Sascha and James Padgett and our own Andrew James who suffered a collarbone injury in a separate incident. Uni's defence was a strong point keeping Hutchins to 5 goals. Adam Alexander, James Cummins and Will Edmunds stood out and repelled Hutchins attacks. Ty Williams was a tower of strength around the ball and Paddy Verrell had a strong first game on a wing.

Congratulations to Cappa on his 50 games.

 R1 Women :             v Huonville Lions away 1st May 9am

The Uni women continued their preparation for round 1 against Huonville(1 May) with a practice match last Saturday against St Virgils. A strong 4 quarter effort saw 32 scoring shots and some very respectable crumbing efforts on the forward line. The defence stayed tight limiting the oppositions ability to score. We must continue to be first to the ball and take our opportunities when they arise.Lets work hard at training next week and be ready for what Huonville will throw at us.
