The Club mourns the passing of Craig 'Fluff' Lovell. Fluff contributed for sixteen years as match manager, statistician and various other tasks. He was respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Condolences to his mother, Shirley, his sons Mario and Christian and other members of his family.
Fluff was an integral part of the premiership years
of the early nineties. 1992 above
Many premiership players and other club
members paid their respect at Fluff's funeral and players wore black arm bands
for the Hutchins game.
The Game - From the second quarter
Without Coach Cameron Burgess, Uni were going to have to play their best to beat an in form Hutchins.
Reeves kicked five.
A glorious day and many skills of the game were on
display
Bean supporters were optimistic after an even first
quarter
Uni tackled well and often and had good numbers around
the ball
Flood was a solid contributor.
strong mark to Bryant and Bielski was named one of the
best
Strong mark to Beams who unselfishly passed to Gunther
who kicked an easy goal.
The reserves were soaking up the sun and enjoying the
game despite their own loss.

Corbett was named best player
Another goal to Beams who kicked eight.
Six goals up at the main break but Hutchins can score
quickly.
Hutchins had every right to be confident after
excellent recent performances.
Uni have memories of frittering away large leads on
this ground..
Matuszek was busy and Bielski continued his fine form

Seven goals up boys but Hutchins will come hard - and
they did!
Bielski Rippon and Reeves were among many who stood
firm.
Beams continued to hit opposition player's arms with
his head and was rightly rewarded by the umps.

Bielski spotted Beams 50 metres away on the opposite
flank and passed perfectly

Hutchins booted four goals to Uni's one in the last
quarter which made for a very tense affair

The win was rewarded with the
four valuable points, the Southee/Palfreyman Cup and ......
